Ardei Umpluți (Stuffed Bell Peppers)

Before You Begin

Prepare all ingredients. Traditional Romanian stuffed peppers require careful preparation and patience.

Ground Black Pepper 1/2 tsp 1 tsp 1 1/2 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp 1 tsp 1 1/2 tsp
Sweet Paprika 1/2 tsp 1 tsp 1 1/2 tsp
Bay Leaves 1-2 3 4-5

Sauce Ingredients:

How to Make:

  1. Finely chop onions and herbs. Mix with ground meat, rice, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Core bell peppers and carefully fill with meat mixture.
  3. Arrange stuffed peppers in a deep cooking pot.
  4. Prepare sauce by mixing tomato concentrate, oil, flour, and seasonings.
  5. Pour sauce over peppers, add bay leaves.
  6. Simmer on low heat for 1 hour until peppers are tender and meat is cooked through.
